What this Blog is about

Hyderabad is known for its spicy, Andhra food - the mutton biryani, the mirch ka salan, etc. When I was planing to move to Hyderabad everyone told me that I'd really enjoy the spicy food ...

... and they were right! Hyderabadis obviously don't have taste buds left - all burnt away with the spices! Wonder how foreigners can survive the food here!

However, Hyderabad's food scene is not just biryani anymore... Far from it! Hyderabad is one of the fastest growing restaurant markets in India... and I'm here to help you discover it all!

This blog is a culinary map for every cuisine, every occasion, and every craving. Use it wisely!

... along the way I will compare Hyderabad restaurants to those in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, New York, London, and the like!

I'll start by listing (in no particular order) my favourite restaurants in Hyderabad & some tid-bits.... Soon I will start adding awards, criticism, etc.

Next big thing: Yo!China (opposite Hyderabad Central in Panjagutta)
Best late-night dining: ITC Kakatiya Midnight Buffet, Ohri's Havmor
Guaranteed Good Food: Ohri's
Best Bar Food: 10, Downing St
Best drinks: Fusion 9
Next place I need to visit: Our Place (Banjara Hills)
Best Butter Chicken: (tie) Ohri's and The Square (Novotel)
Best Burger: McDonalds (Prasads)
Best Overall:

Waterfront (Tied Best atmosphere, Indian/Chinese food is good, Lake-side)
Zafraan Exotica (Tied Best atmosphere, Indian/Chinese food is good, Good service.. but no view makes it 2nd)
Little Italy (Good food, Great Atmosphere, Huuuge menu / authentic Italian... but ONLY vegetarian food makes it lose out)

In the next few posts, I will try to add to this list, and to come up with area-wise suggestions. Then I will do detailed reviews of each restaurant, and start a formal rating system....

Must visit atleast once.We had been their branch located at Masab Tank, but this one located at Lakadikapul next to Saifabad PS is even better. They also have another branch at Dilsuknagar, Chaitanyapuri next to Kalanekethan.The place is big enough to have office get-togethers and can easily accomodate around 80 people at the same time. It is truely a place that gives you a home away from home experience.We were told that they even do home delivery and out-door catering as well, so I must try this out soon and we will keep you posted with our feedback at the earliest.
